1st & 2nd Generation biofuels:
The potential of various 1st and 2nd generation biofuels as a form of alternative energy source have been extensively researched for a number of years, but face two main bottlenecks:
3rd Generation biofuels: Microalgae
Photosynthetic microalgae is a promising alternative source of renewable energy. However, its practicality is hindered by low productivity and high cost. AEE’s work focuses on resolving the bottleneck in the outdoor production of microalgae biomass at a production scale.
At AEE, genetically modified microalgae are cultivated in specially designed photobioreactors with the aim of achieving high biomass output. AEE aims to create value by developing new solutions and patents, to contribute to support the technical industry and supply chain.
